History of Seeds To Trees

In 1982, Cindy Kessler moved to Loveland, Ohio, a bedroom community outside Cincinnati, Ohio. At the time, Loveland was doing a major road upgrade. Trees were not part of the plan…but, with Cindy's gentle prodding, trees were included. Soon thereafter, Cindy founded the Loveland Tree Committee, chairing it for 16 years.

Graeters, Cincinnati’s iconic ice cream shop, is a great place to give tree seedlings away.

After a child rearing sabbatical from the Loveland Tree Committee, Cindy started planting tree seeds in her vegetable garden and giving the seedlings away around town - shops, restaurants, offices, etc.

Often, when refilling her baskets people would ask ‘Hey lady, what are you doing?’ So many followed up with, ‘Cool, how do you do what you do?’… That Cindy created Seeds To Trees as an educational website to teach others.

Growing trees from seed, and giving the seedlings away, can be done by absolutely anyone. Whether you grow 5 seedlings or 100... You’ve made the world a better place. :)
