Printing the Tags

———————————————Note——————————————
The tags are PDFs, which will always print correctly, regardless of the computer used. This format is unalterable. There is a Tree Info/Planting Instruction template in a Word Doc format (below), that can be modified.

2. Seeds to Trees.Org Tags:
This tag explains our simple approach to helping the environment. It encourages others to become seedling growers, so let’s spread the word! Print these tags on bright green paper.

These tags have info on both sides. Print the document as you would a one sided document. Then flip the papers over and print again. The finished product will end up with the correct text on the correct side. Line up the sheets and cut with a razor blade and straight edge.

3. ‘Plant Now! Fall/Winter? Yes!’:
The seedlings need to get planted
right away. Unfortunately, many
people think they should wait till
spring. Planting in the fall and
winter (when trees are dormant) is
the best time to plant, because it
provides plenty of time for the
seedling to establish a good root
system before spring leaf-out, which greatly enhances survivability. By printing
these tags on brightly colored paper (of varied colors), they make the display
bright & cheerful, attracting lots of attention.

Customized Tree Info/Planting Instruction Tag

  1. Start by opening this link: [Buckeye]

  2. Do a google search on the tree you are giving away, using information from reliable sources like:
    National Arbor Day Foundation
    The Morton Arboretum
    University publications
    US Department of Agriculture publications
    State Departments of Forestry publications

  3. Replace the description of the buckeye tree with the new verbage.

  4. Word Doc font nuances (style, size, kerning) can vary between computers. This can throw off the alignment of the verbage, on the front and back of the tag (when you print). To check and correct the alignment:
    A) Slide the zoom control until the front and back are side-by-side
    on your computer screen.
    B) Hold a straight edge up to the screen to check alignment.
    C) To adjust the alignment between lines of text:
    a) Large increases - use the enter key.
    b) Subtle adjustments - change the font size of the spaces
    between the lines of text.
